This year was my first year attending Visions. I though it was a really great
experience. At first, I was reluctant about
the conference block because I the critical studies side to be a little boring
at times. Though I was really surprised
by how interesting most of the presentations were in the second conference
block. This was also the first time I
have ever attended a film conference, so it was definitely an awesome
experience. It also proved me wrong
because I assumed the conference would be boring.
The second film blocks had some amazing films. It is great to see a mixture of styles at
film festivals. It is amazing to hear
how these filmmakers came up with the ideas to their films. The documentary where the filmmakers followed
to band around Japan was great. It was
shot beautifully and really took us into the bands tour of Japan and the
culture in Japan. It is interesting to
see how people so far away still have to same interest that people here in the
United States have.
Attending Visions makes me want to write and make more films
to be able to do a festival tour. I just
wanted to go out and make films when making all the shorts. It seems cool to hear feedback from other who
we do not go to class with everyday. I
know if I am in this area next year I will attend Visions again and will make
sure I have time to go to both film blocks.
I may even attend a conference block.
